"When one rises, we all rise."
Women of Southeast is a community-centered organization rooted in Southeast San Diego, dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening families, supporting local businesses, and creating opportunities that lead to healthier, stronger, and more connected communities.
Founded by seven Black women with deep connections to Southeast San Diego, Women of Southeast was created from a shared commitment to give back to the community that helped shape us. We combine our experiences, resources, relationships, and leadership to address community needs while creating opportunities for education, economic advancement, wellness, and meaningful connection.
Our mission is to empower and strengthen underserved communities through education, economic opportunity, wellness, community engagement, and collaborative partnerships.
Through programs, events, educational initiatives, business support, and direct community assistance, we work to expand access to resources and create pathways for individuals and families to thrive.
Our work focuses on five core areas:
The seven interlocking rings in our logo represent the seven women, seven voices, and one shared commitment to community.
Each woman brings her own knowledge, experiences, relationships, and strengths to the organization. The interconnected rings symbolize what can happen when women work collectively instead of individually: resources are shared, relationships are strengthened, and the impact reaches beyond one person or one event.
Together, we use our collective power to support families, champion local and Black-owned businesses, create educational and cultural experiences, promote financial and personal wellness, and connect our community with resources and opportunities.
Our vision is a Southeast San Diego where individuals and families have access to the resources, knowledge, relationships, and opportunities necessary to build sustainable futures and create generational impact.
We envision communities where local businesses thrive, families are supported, women are empowered, young people see possibilities for their futures, and community members have a meaningful voice in shaping the neighborhoods where they live.
Women of Southeast is more than an organization. We are women investing in people, building community, and creating a legacy that can be carried forward for generations.
Vision. Unity. Legacy.
